Dr. Javier Pagonabarraga is neurologist specialized in neurodegenerative diseases and movement disorders.

 

In 1999 he received the title of Medicine at the University of Barcelona after making college in the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona and in 2004 he obtained the title of neurologist after training at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona. 

 

In 2009 he received the degree of Doctor of Medicine from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, ​​after performing in Sant Pau his studies on the different diagnostic methods and neural bases of cognitive and psychiatric disorders in patients with neurodegenerative processes such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.

 

He is currently attending physician of the Movement Disorders Unit of the Hospital de Sant Pau, which combines the assistance of patients with cognitive, behavioral, neuropsychiatric problems and movement disorders (dystonia, tics, chorea) with scientific research.

 

In recent years he has published more than fifty articles in national and international journals focusing their interest and effort in understanding the cognitive impairment and neuropsychiatric disturbances of patients with neurological diseases. Also, he gives talks and lectures at national and international meetings and conferences.
